By now, we know you’re pretty deep in the holiday spirit. You probably have your Christmas tree up, and your house is beautifully decorated in all the wreaths and icicle lights you could find, and there’s nothing wrong with that! It’s the holiday season, and everyone, especially the city of Annapolis, wants you to enjoy it!
In fact, the city wants its people to enjoy it so much that they’re holding special activities and events throughout the month of December just to stay in the spirit.
Keep reading for what you can look forward to this month…
On December 8th, select stores in downtown Annapolis will keep business going all the way until midnight! This means you have even more time to procrastinate on gift buying! On December 15th, stores will stay open until 11pm. And even if you aren’t into late-night shopping, the area will be full of live music and holiday entertainment for your pleasure.
Chocolate Binge Festival
It’s a festival…celebrating chocolate. There will be local vendors, music, shopping and entertainment all over West Street on Sunday, December 4th. From 12pm to 5pm, it’s wonderfully encouraged that you satisfy your sweet tooth in the best possible way. There will also be a fire pit for you to cuddle with loved ones and maybe even compete for the all-around best smores technique.
Lights on the Bay
Bring the family out to experience the holiday festivities at its brightest! This year marks the 20th anniversary of Lights on the Bay, and from now until January 1st, all are welcomed and encouraged to come out and enjoy the show. Every night from 5pm-10pm, Sandy Point State Park will be lit with amazing features representing Annapolis. There will also be a 16-foot teddy bear lighting the Chesapeake Bay, so be prepared to be amazed.

The holiday season is upon us, Annapolis! The lights, the music, the delicious comfort food – it’s all necessary for holiday joy. Another classic staple of the holidays are the glorious gifts, and we’d be doing you a disservice if we didn’t mention the resources you have at your disposal.
So here’s the truth: that Christmas list isn’t getting any shorter, and you know you love giving gifts and watching your loved ones gleam probably more than they love receiving them. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
The opportunity to spread holiday cheer is now, and Annapolis has some of the best shops and boutiques to choose from.
There’s Annapolis Towne Centre, for one, located within walking distance to our top rated downtown Annapolis hotel. This outdoor shopping mall has several stores including Lululemon Athletica, so that aunt of yours who vows to lose 10 pounds every year can kick off her resolution in style. There’s also Brooks Brothers, Anthropologie, Origins, Bed Bath & Beyond and Pier 1 Imports to name a few.
Another shopping venue you’re privy to is the Westfield Annapolis Mall. This mall, also located near the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Annapolis, is the largest mall in the entire region. Whether you need to find those perfect leather boots for Dad, a delicate new charm for Mom or even the latest Apple gadget for your oh-so-annoying little brother, Westfield Mall is the place to go.
There’s also countless boutiques and shops for those of you who prefer to support local businesses. Historic downtown Annapolis is sure to have something for even the most particular family members, so don’t you fret!
Honestly, between your unwavering desire to gift those you love and the wide variety of shops in Annapolis, those Christmas lists don’t stand a chance.
Get ready to shop, people!

The question is simple. Are you a Marquette fan or a Vanderbilt fan? Do you lose your voice screaming for Ohio State or do you need that lemon/honey tea after watching the Navy play? Whatever your choice, you have to experience this year’s Veterans Classic and root for your team in person – although we will admit that if you voted against the Navy, we may or may not view you a little differently going forward.
The U.S. Naval Academy’s Veterans Classic will be held at Alumni Hall on Friday, November 11th. The Marquette vs. Vanderbilt game will kick off the doubleheader at 6:30pm with the Navy vs. Ohio State game following at 9pm.
We know you basketball fans are loyal to the sport, so we know you’ve got your seats and accommodations already secured, right?
Fine. Lucky for you risk takers out there, tickets are still on sale, and our affordable Annapolis hotel has rooms to spare. The Holiday Inn Express and Suites Annapolis is the perfect choice for those of you traveling into the city for the big games.
We’re located less than 5 miles away from the Naval Academy and also the best restaurants in downtown Annapolis. This means the biggest obstacle you’ll have after the game is figuring out exactly where you’d like to enjoy your celebratory meal.
And because we’re considerate and committed to our guests, we also offer special hotel packages to Midshipmen and their families.
Reserve your discounted room and get ready to watch some great basketball.
